Utah Wastewater Operator Certification Program:
Criteria for Wastewater Operator Training Courses
Any training courses, seminars, etc., should be pre-approved by the Wastewater Operator Certification Council for CEUs to be awarded. All CEUs, including in-house or in-plant training which is intended to meet any part of the CEU requirements for certificate renewal are subject to review to ensure that the training is "applicable to wastewater works operation and meets CEU criteria." Pre-approval may be obtained by submitting a letter to the Certification Council which includes the following:
- Name of course, subject(s) to be covered, and sponsor(s).
- Location of training.
- An outline or agenda of the training course.
- Time involvement for each subject covered.
- List the instructor(s) and qualifications to teach the course.
- List the objectives - documenting the essential points of instruction and methods used to illustrate these principles.
After the training is held, a follow-up letter listing the attendees should be forwarded to the Division of Water Quality, Wastewater Operator Certification Program, so that the CEUs can be credited to each individual.
If the training is not "pre-approved," submit all above information together with the list of attendees and CEUs will be allocated at the discretion of the Certification Council
Note: The minimum credit that will be entered into the certification database is 0.1 CEUs. Credit will be given for actual training time over that minimum for each training event (which may consist of multiple topics.) Generally, 1 hour of specialized training = 0.1 CEU (policy revised 2/1/2011).
